Health & Well Being Sunday 2018 #1

During the last part of 2017 I decided not to do any of these Health and Well Being Posts as they were getting very samey. Instead I decided to do a bit of research into how I could make these posts a little more interesting. I swiftly came to the conclusion that the key to making these particular posts more interesting is planning.

Goals

My biggest Goal for 2018 is the same as it was for 2017 – to get fit and lose weight. Last year for me was not good concerning weight loss. This was due to illness both physically and mentally.

Mentally – I am still not as strong as I want to be emotionally. There are areas of my life that make me unhappy and unfortunately I cannot change these things at the moment. They are out of my control.  So, what I need to do is “FOCUS” on what I can do to cope with life at the moment. One of these coping mechanisms is – Mindfulness.

What is Mindfulness?

It is the basic human ability to be fully aware and present with what is happening around us. Not being overwhelmed or reactive to any situation. By practising mindfulness we put space between ourselves and our reactions.

Physically – I have got really unfit over the past 6 months or so. I am still walking as much as I can but I have not been running for a little while now.  I am also not feeling very well again at the moment. I have a sore throat and my chest is hurting again. The pain I get in my chest will reoccur when I get virus’s or maybe just randomly. The thing is it will never disappear completely so I just have to get on with it.

Every year I add 2 things to my 101 List. This year I wanted to add something that would aid my guest to better fitness. I am thinking of adding the “walk to Mordor” as one of the items. I am looking for ideas for the second one. I will make the final decision at the end of January.

Aims for 2018

  • To lose weight
  • To get fit enough to run 5K
  • Complete a Plank Challenge
  • Anything else I put on my 101 List concerning fitness…

I am trying to keep this post as to the point as possible without waffling so I am going to end here for today.  I am still trying to decided whether to do these posts fortnightly or monthly. Till next time… Adieu xx
