Here we are once again at the end of 365 days that mark the year. Tonight many of you no doubt will be out there seeing out what can only be described as a turbulent year but between those dark times there have been glimmers of light. Tomorrow I will post a brief overview of the news over 2017 (The Day After the Year Before Parts 1 & 2) but in this post I will focus on “My 2017”.
My word for 2017 was “Create”. I chose that word to help me ignite my creative side and it worked. I have painted a few pictures for some people I know that involve an eagle. I have posted one below.
I am quite pleased with how it turned out and also how it scanned in. It is so nice to spend time doing creative tasks again.
I changed the name of my blog this year from “what is hoped for” to “lulu-bys-place”
I also took part in the A to Z April Challenge.
I had two holidays this year…
My first excursion was to Rome, we also went to Naples and Pompeii. I went with my daughter and my parents. It was a wonderful week, a little hot but we still enjoyed it. I fulfilled a dream and went to the Colosseum, we also went to Vatican City and had a meal at the Hard Rock Cafe.
My second holiday was to Disney Land Paris with my daughter. During the fireworks one night we were stood next to Lee Ryan from Blue ( and also Eastenders). It was a very strange moment when I realised I was singing “Let it Go” next to a singer from a boy band. We also spent a day in Paris and went up to the top of the Eiffel Tower.
In other news… my daughter is now an adult, she turned 18 years old in October and is about as indecisive as I am when it comes to future career options.
I set myself 5 goals for 2017 and I have completed 3 out of the 5.
- Read 25 Books – this is my book target for 2017 on Goodreads – Completed. I have done this but only just. I got behind on my reading due to being so tired all the time.
- Visit Italy – Completed. Went to Rome, Naples and Pompeii.
- Go to Disney Land Paris – Completed
- Go to the cinema once a month – This didn’t happen. I am not sure why? I just went off going to the cinema. I have lots of movies I want to see during 2018 so I am sure I will go back.
- Lose Weight (a lot of weight) – err… I have actually put on weight. This is due to being ill for most of the year. I do intend to pay more attention to this in 2018 – Look out for Health and Well Being Sunday making a come back.
TV & Movies
My Favourite Movie of 2017 – Beauty and the Beast
Beauty and the Beast is my favourite Disney Movie of all time. I was a little concerned about the live action version however I loved it, even Emma Watson as Belle did not annoy me as much as I thought it would.
Second Choice – Guardians of the Galaxy volume 2
My Favourite TV Show of 2017 – Stranger Things Season 1 & 2
I watched both seasons this year and really enjoyed it. I did cry during season 2… twice and felt as though I needed to go to a support group but besides that loved it. Dustin is my favourite (he is one of the reasons why I cried. If you have seen it you will know why but I am not putting down any spoilers).
Favourite TV is a tough choice because there have been some really good TV moments this year.
Best Live Moment of 2017
The One Love Manchester concert – for the victims of the terrorist attack at Ariana Grande’s concert was one of the best live events on TV this year. It is just a shame that it happened due to such a tragic event. Even now it still brings tears to my eyes when I think about it and also all the other terrorist attacks and tragic events that have occurred over 2017.
Favourite TV Advert of 2017
Just because I have to mention it and also leave this post on a happier note… I have loved the He-Man and Skeletor Adverts for Money Supermarket. Below is the first advert featuring the pair. They have also done a second where He-Man and Skeletor do the complete dance routine from Dirty Dancing which had me in stitches.
I hope you have enjoyed “My 2017” post. Tomorrow will be my two review posts of the years news. I will be back on the 2nd January with “Hello 2018”.
Hope you all have a good start to 2018… see you next year x
