It’s #Dahlicious

“A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly.” So, states one of the worlds best selling authors of children’s – Roald Dahl.

Today is Roald Dahl Day. The great man himself would have been 101 years of age today. As well as being a world famous author did you know that Roald Dahl was also fighter pilot, and a spy?

During the WW2 Roald Dahl was enlisted into the Royal Air Force aged 23 years. However, in 1940 Roald Dahl’s plane crashed in the desert leaving him with injuries to his nose, back and head. Six months later after recovering from his injuries Roald returned to the action. A little later on Roald also provided intelligence to MI6.

Roald Dahl was certainly a man of many talents but the one that attracted the most adoration of course was his writing.

Roald Dahls books are full of little gems of wisdom.

One of my favourite quotes are from the book Matilda. This quote is probably not unique to Matilda or even to Roald Dahl but it is an observation on life which is very true. Especially if you are interested in becoming a writer.

Part of Roald Dahl Day is “Dahlicious” Dress Up Day. This is the opportunity to dress up as your favourite Roald Dahl Hero.  The money raised from this event goes to Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.  Sadly I have not had the opportunity to dress up today but I am going to make a donation. It is such a fantastic charity. The Charity provides nurses for children with serious illnesses.

Now if I had of dressed up today who would I have dressed up as??? There are so many wonderful characters to chose from.

I think I would have to dress up as “Willy Wonka”… besides being attracted to the purple jacket and top hat, I would to own a chocolate factory.

Who would you choose?
